In addition to the textile industry, cotton is used in fishing nets, coffee filters, tents, explosives manufacture, cotton paper, and in bookbinding.

Apart from being used to make textile products, did you know that the cotton plant has medicinal purposes as well? The liquid obtained by boiling its roots in water is used to treat asthma, dysentery and diarrhoea!
